Online Vendors

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My bad on calling him a vendor, but he does sell some fantastic fish!

And good to know that Wet Spot sells quality fish, I've been looking at them for a while and wasn't sure if they sold quality fish or if they were just a big name that just sold fish. :)

Interesting how I can have several good transactions with a certain vendor/company and then have one terrible experience, and I'll just be very hesitant about ever going back to them. That one transaction that didnt turn out well can just erase a handful of purchases that did. I'm guessing it's because I usually lay down a pretty penny everytime I make an online fish purchase, and I expect a very smooth outcome in return.

Dan of Cichilds of the Americas was very good to do business with. He stayed in contact with me through phone calls, texts, and emails. Delivery was great also. I placed an order with Florida Tropical Fish Direct and they have been very quick to respond to me also. I'll have to wait until my shipment comes in before I can give a full account of their service. but I'm happy so far.
Thought I'd add to my post just in case another member searches the forums for info on this vendor. My Festae arrived from Florida Tropical Fish Direct and I couldn't have been happier. Fish arrived very well packaged. They even included a bag of pellets. The prices on their stock is phenomenal! I will be doing business with them again, probably in a few weeks.

what about cichluvr, his prices are great and he has a ton of fishes offered? how about blue grass aquatics? i'm still a month or so from buying anything but this thread is great.

Thats understandable but not really fair. Things happen and no single vendor will always have a smooth shipping experience every single time. I have ordered from Rapps, Wetspot, Cichluvr, Ira and Dan ye and all have given me good stock but things can go wrong and they have. I really only order from Rapps now and my thinking is that he's been around a long time and I want to see him stick around for many many years to come. Vendors come and go but Jeff has been a part of my hobbie for as long as I can remember and I think it only fitting that I continue to support his business and encourage others to do the same.

oh ok missed it, so i tried to summarize:

Jeff Rapps: tangled up in cichlids
Dan Ye Jennings: Americancichlids.net
Shark Aquarium
Ira: cichlid Connection
JD Gentry
floridatropicalfishdirect
snookn21
fishjunky
dan/cichluvr: cichlids of the americas
wetspot
Eddie: bluegrass aquatics
Cavamart/James Cavanaugh
livefishdirect (didn't seem like they had many ca cichlids in stock)
aquascape online (wasn't mentioned but they have ca cichlids)

from availabillty these had the most types available
jeff raps
cichluvr
cichlid connection

pricewise, no contest cichluvr

qualitywise, i'm reading different things and don't want to start a flame war, but the vendor that has no question is jeff rapps in terms of quality... i think

thats based on 3 weeks of research (including this awesome thread) i've done while setting up my tank :)

* note this did not take shipping costs into consideration as the op requested

Seperate entities, both are vendors on MFK.

ill throw in another vote for Dan from cichlidsoftheamericas.com. I just placed an order from him two days ago and for 3 MONTHS before i ordered for the first time he answered questions and sent pics of his breeders to me. I had neer been a customer yet he took the time to do this and MADE me a customer from that.

Also, If you want umbies, FRESHWATERPREDATORS, a member here shipped me 6 umbie babies from Alaska To FLorida and when they got here, i had 10 healthy umbies ;)

I agree! floridatropicalfishdirect.com is awesome.

They throw in some extra fish too in case something goes wrong.
