I sit and watch too. One of my GTs (3") was trying to be tough with my 8" Pleco, until the Pleco turned to face him. The GT swam away fast, and the Pleco has no more problems.

Sorry you have had a sick pup. That is no fun, they just can't say what is wrong (like fish) and you have to just guess. I hope all is well now and you have had some time to rest!!!

I haven't had an aquarium long enough to sit and watch for hours but I would if I could. My 5G I have white clouds in it and even though they are little they are sooo neat! They have pretty colors and when they flare their fins its pretty cool. They are cooky and race around...makin me dizzy.
My surgeons office has a massive way awesome saltwater tank. I could sit and watch it for hours!!! I love the way the one fish sifts sand through its gills and the others just seem to do their thing.

Don't let it bug ya bout people calling you a fish geek. I would think of it as a compliment, especially since you are keeping such wonderful fish happy and healthy!!! Someday I wish to be a fish geek and know for sure the right thing to say when something happens to a fish. I love helping people out but I don't know enough about this fishkeeping to be of a great help yet. Consider yourself lucky to be so smart in fish keeping! :headbang2
Hugs

exactly , except without the going on fish websites at school, keep that for home lol. it's funny when someone i havent met asks me what i have for sale at school though.
I use to be able to visit many fish forums even on a tight school intranet, but after a few months of activity 3 times a week, they told me off and blocked those sites.

I can however bypass the lame intranet and get on with some help from friends.

thats the reason why i like to stare at my jewel chiclid tank
theres every thing
drama, romance, action, comedy
kinda like a whole entertainment package you know

To be honest i have noticed that the relationship that we as aquarists have with the "Out side world" has always and will always be kinda estranged. People are quick to call a aquarium enthusiast "Fish geeks" but whenever they see our tanks and the attention to detail and how amazing it looks they are always in awww and wish that they could have one...lol.

But i definately find myself often getting lost in all of the personalities of my "little people" (Yeah i call them little people..and what.. :-) ). I have a heard of dwarf cichlids and they are the most amusing creatures to watch as the squabble over territories and chase the girls, while avoiding the grumpy CAE's that live under the log...lol..

I also have a dog... and i know what its like when they are sick... that is a brutal process to go through...

I hope your dogs are feeling better.
Yes, I sit and watch my tanks...all the time. The fish do have such personalities, and it is nice to sit and watch them. I also talk to them..

my tanks are my therapy! i enjoy watching my fish along w/ their ways and fights for certain real estate .

heh i never really had a problem with being called a fish geek, but i have seemed to pass the fish loveing disease onto a few of my friends.

as for watching my fish goes i have a chair faceing all my tanks lol, its really fun to watch my piranhas have a stare down every now and then, and to watch my dragon goby dig a perfect circular hole into the sand bed, and to watch my jar tail slap the bambo stalks in his tank
