I recently aquired a few new tanks for the fish room and have room to try breeding another species. The top two on my list for the longest time have been Nandopsis Beani and Cichlasoma Ornatum. Which would you pick and or what's your personal experience if you've bred either?

Tank can be a dedicated 210 on a constant drip system. Space and water should be good for either.

I'd go with an ornatum over beani. No experience, just looks cooler, IMO.

Tank temp could be an issue with the Ornatum. Garages in Orlando are quite a bit warmer than mid 70's. I'm typically in the 80-82 range.

I've had fully grown Beani and Ornatum a few years back and my choice would be beani. Less shy and easier to breed. I would have visitors and 100% of the time, the beani tank becomes the center of attention.

The ornatum was wild caught and that could explain why it was a bit shy. Ornatum at 12" is very similar to a festae especially in breeding dress.
