Wow anything else in there with them? what were they feeding and any scuffles??? im in the process of setting up my lionfish tank now!!! im looking for good ideas... think a Radiata can live in a 55G?? even if its like the only fish in there....?? my priority in lionfish!

1)Radiata
2)Zebra
3)Fuzzy dwarf
4)Spotfin
5)Fu manchu

what would you do with a 55G personally? how much live rock did you use too?

I chose the species I did because of their size. Most of them reach 6-8". I kept them at juvenile sizes in a 60g tall. I also kept them in a 90g tank.

They are not aggressive whatsoever, and they didn't fight at all. They actually seemed to all be friends. They put off alot of waste, and that is your biggest restriction on tank size. Make sure you do extra water changes, and don't feed goldfish.

They had no tankmates other than a Knight Goby, which are commonly Brackish. A few inverts such as a black spiney urchin and a green brittle star.

thanks man... how fast do they grow?? like a year until almost fully matured in size?? i really want a radiata? is that a bad idea?? if so looks like im getting practically your setup, thanks for the inspiration! and i plan to get them on silversides, and other frozen foods... im tryin to not use live foods so i can possibly get crabs an such, but who knows!! anythin can happen!

PS if u dont mind me asking which kind of lighting did u use?!?!? and is that a cool clam in there too in the sand?!?!

It was just 4x 48" 40w bulbs.. 1 actinic, 1 50/50, and 2 18k powerglo's...

They didn't mind the bright light as far as I know.. They hung upside down in the cave most the time like a bat. They really seemed to like that.. Purchase your live rock in the thought that you need peices to build large overhangs and caves for the Lions, rather then just 'piles' of LR in the tank.

They grow pretty slow.

I had a hard time getting them on Silversides, it was almost too much(hard) for them. I had more luck with cocktail shrimp, and freeze-dried krill.. Ghost Shrimp, Rosies, Mollies, and Platies for live treats.. Always quarantined. The fuzzy dwarf lion eventually ate anything that hit the water, including pre-softened cichlid pellets.

If you have more specifics just AIM me at MilesBergsma

Thanks guys!
