I had a divider in my 70 w/ my orinos and leopard cten on one side and the rest on the other... well while feeding my cichla the wolf fish smashed the barrier down, and grabbed the smaller O by the tail then the face. I then lost him, as in track of him, and thought my ornate had eaten him.

Well I was wrong, he was hiding face for days. Once I realized he was still in there I took him out and put him in the 30 ga, which my IT dat then proceeded to beat the hell out of him so I put the Dat in the main tank.

If you look closely his tail is all but nonexistent, which is lucky because he wasn't taken down to the flesh, just the fin. Hopefully he can recover, put it in here figuring I'd get more response. How should I tackle this? Never had to heal a pbass from such a estate

Yep,I have this small bottle of stuff called Bio Bandage that I use topically for open wounds but time and clean water are best.

Oh yes I keep my water very clean, 30-40% WC every 2 days and when something like this happens I go with melafix pimafix and a bit of salt. Usually some anti stress stuff too to help get over the shock of being messed up. Just wanted to be sure cichla didn't need any sort of extra special care for injury, thanks guys. He's got brighter markings then the one my buddy gave me, I feel he's got good potential

Imo as long as you keep clean water and keep the temp up he should heal right up. I've seen my cichla heal up from all sorts of injuries and I never use medicine.

+1 Melafix really speeds up the processes. But on my hospitol tank we change the water 50% 3x a week if being used. Melafix and good water conditions will heal him faster then you think possible :)

Well mines eating just fine i dont see why he wouldnt make it, unless the head bite did some internal damage but hes swimming fine. I use the marineland equivalent of stress coat also and i got the heat up to 86 too
