So, I ordered a new Ranco temperature controller for one of my 125s. I'm leaving the house to go to an appointment, and notice UPS has delivered it. As I am opening the box, I'm thinking, "might as well hook it up before I leave". I have several of these, they are great, so no worries. I hook it up, do a rush programing job on it, and leave. Several hours later I return, and notice the temp. on the controller says 95F. What the f--k? In my rush to program it, I failed to change the controller from "C" which is the chilling mode, to "H" which is the heating mode, as I am using this to control a heater, not a chiller. DOH! No harm done, the tank contains Discus, I usually keep the temp. at 85F anyway, but it goes to show how easy it is to make a mistake, even to someone with over 30 years experience.

Always remember to turn the heater off when you go to clean the tank. If you don't, when you re-fill the tank I'm sure once the water touches that heater you will have a fire works show in your tank. Consider that an early lesson learned.
