I picked up a Seng (about 3-4 inch) to go with my Oscar (4 inches) and 3 CLs. Upon introducing him i did my typical WC and redocor to throw my Oscar off. I didnt think i'd have any problem with the Oscar due to the fact that the bichir is the same size as him. I was wrong. While I'm sitting there admiring my new friend, my Oscar (who plays dead in the corner while i do wc's) came out of nowhere and gobbled the poor guy about to the half way mark.:WHOA: I quickly grabbed my net and went in after him. :nilly:Mr. Gotti immediately spat him out and went to play dead knowing i was pissed.:irked: I put the bichir in my hospital tank right afterwords. For the first 2-3 days he kind of just drifted with spastic movements here and there.:( He's straightened up swims normally now but will not eat. He's been doing this now for a over a week. I have it low lit and he's in there with 4 platys who dont bother him whatsoever... What do i do?:screwy:

Give him some time, he did just get eaten alive! I'd be off my food too if that happened to me.
Just keep him in the hospital for a while longer and keep an eye on him, maybe he's still a bit nervous with other fish around, have you though about taking the platys out (if you have another tank to put them in)

He doesn't seem bothered by them but I'll try that. Im up for any ideas.

Just give it some time and put some food in front of it. If it doesn't eat within 20 minutes, I would remove the food and try again in a couple of hours and repeat. Oscars are very robust while upper jaw Polys are thin. The rule (for me) is that if I put in a thin long fish with a tall robust fish, the thin long fish should be double the length of the tall robust fish. However, this may not always work, especially with fish with voracious appetites

My poly's are a nuisance to my oscars, the polys I have are 10.5, 11 and ~6" ,but well fed(round)...My oscars just get bullied by them , as they swim like the oscar isn't in front of them....

One (my big seng if I had to put money on it) plucked the eye out of my albino oscar early in life too!

The love goes both ways I guess.

Anyone got any advice as to what this little guy might prefer to eat in his downtime? He doesn't seem to be taking to shrimp/bloodworms/hikari pellets or flake

HE EATS!!! He gobbled up an earthworm. YAY:headbang2

Cool for you (and the poly). He just needed some time. But, as above, you may want to re-think putting him with the oscar any more.
