I personally like the lighter one since some light silvery ones look like a 17k gold asian aro,but the darker ones do look pretty nice

actually there is a pure black jar they had one for sell at one of my lfs it was about around 18 inches or so it was pure pitch black and the guy sold it for $900 it wasn't as dark a black asian aro,but it was a nice black with no silvery scales or any other colors

Is that Lace Rock in your tank? Does it affect the PH?

Was thinking about going with rock on my sand that I'm adding next week.

Mostly lava, but one big peice of lace rock yea. The rock and sand do effect the pH but I have wood in there also, which balances it out. Just have to get the right amounts.
