Opinions? Lizard leash for Gecko...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ya do the thin felt strips in the H and then use like fishing line or string as the leash. ya thoose commercial ones only work with some lizards. i would personally use the string because the fishing line might cut into him if he gets twisted in it...

AJ, just get a 5/10g tank, set it beside your pc and put him in it when you need both hands. I wouldnt put any kind of harness on my leo, EVER. Remember they are nocturnal....so they are going to be more comfortable handled at night...

I very often do that with a show box, but sometimes he's calm enough to sit on my laptop. I guess I won't be doing that any more though:(

BF if you were standing next to me I'd smack you.

All part of the learning process
But hey, I'm glad I asked first, rather that just doing it and having who-knows-what happen.

I have never had a good experience with those leashes. I am not saying that others haven't but in my opinion, they are a waste of money...

you seem to be going in the right direction. good luck, and that is a good looking gecko. the idea of a 5-10 gallon next to your pc would work the best...

My opinion? Lizard and leash shouldn't be used in the same sentence.......
EXACLY! Guys I can not beleave in some barbaritys Ive been reading here. Botom Feeder you DONT walk your leopard gecko on your floor like you would a dog, the woule process is EXTREMELY stressfull to your pet, actually by what Ive been reading here you have been handling your gecko way more then you should. This are animals to watch and let them do their thing and handle ocasionaly. The extra stress can lead your gecko to refuse food, hide from you or even worse. Did you know that if you piss of your beloved gecko to much, even if acidently, he has the capacity to literaly "eject" its own tail without you toching it as a means to avoid "predation"? Geckos alongside lacertids have that faculty if they get to much stressed. And that if you walk your gecko in the floor your expossing him to all sorts of nasty things in the floor including potentially deadly desiases and parasites? Cryptosporidium is the nemesis of the leopard gecko and if infected is allmost allways letal. Plus its everywere on dirty surfaces. Next and finely you DONT EVER put a leash on a gecko, your gecko may rool over himself to get rid of it and get all tangled up, risking choking or even worse break its spine. Or shed its tail...AGAIN.
If you see your gecko likes to roam and all do, its up to you to provide a enclusure as big as possible for him, not by "walking " him.
