Today I purchased a used 55 Gallon Tank on a steel frank stand for 100 bucks, it also included a Cascade Canister Filter 700, has anyone ever owned one of these or currently own one and what are your thoughts, opinions on it ?

Thanks In advanced.

I love the Cascade's they're quiet, easy to move and change the filter material. Plus I love the spray bar on them, very niiiice! Works as well as my Fluval 405 despite bein' cheaper. Though finding replacement filter material can be tedious if you want to go with original replacement filter material.

I have the same exact one, working as a backup filter for my main tank with an eheim 2217 as my main filtration.

the eheim 2217 is quieter but this thing does its job well and i would recommend it.

the only thing is that out of the box they don't come with any bio filtration at all (which makes no sense to me, just a course sponge, carbon, polish, polish). I put a liter of eheim subtrat pro in mine

My 1500 has been great so far. I use the spray bar, but I take the end cap off to make it easier on the pump and it sort-of creates a whirlpool effect, which helps to pick up the poopies.

If you wish to order another spray bar, call (901) 365-7666 ext 205 to speak with penn-plax.

Hmmmm, mine did not come with a spray bar, I think I might need to buy one. Also what media do you guys use ? Should i add carbon in this, ceramic, etc ?

I use ceramic rings, bio-balls, and some marineland filter floss that you buy in the big sheets, cut to fit. I just wring the filter floss out and rinse with the water I siphon out during my water change when it gets dirty, and its good to go again.
