opinions on filter set up

The overflow is the minimum gph i would get for a 300.....what are you going to stock the tank with? just whats in your sig?

I Think it would work with good tank maintenance.....maybe down the road when the monsters get bigger you can add another overflow to use the sump to its full potential (1800 gph)

OK so i have the litlle giant in line pump flows 1175 gph @ 1 ft head with 1" fittings. and this sump has 1" fittings . What if I get an overflow thats too big won't for the pump won't something bad happen. I am new to these wetdry setups so bear with me. Isn't there a possibiltiy of flooding.

I think it would be better to get a wet dry filter that has more bioballs and less room for a refugium. That's actually what's it's designed for on a salt water tank. It most likely wouldn't provide enough filtration for your fish. And I agree, cycling your tank at a max of 4 times an hour is pretty minimal.

I talked to the company and the areas in the sump are adjustable so I can make the area for the bio balls as big as I want. But I said that it doesn't look like they sit on an eggcrate . He said that they will be half in and half out of the water. Is that correct?

There's nothing wrong with the bio balls being in the water, but if you wanted to, you could buy a little egg crate and some pvc and make your own platform for the bioballs to sit on! It's easy and cheap

I don't see any sort of drip tray over the bioballs. In order for the water to be dispersed properly there should be some sort of drip tray/spraybar. Imho This setup is definately designed for a saltwater reef aquarium where the refugium is more important than the bioballs.
