well in that case, you go girl!!!!!!!!! ;) didnt know you were done with school already. just that i know a lot of people go for a graduate degree right after finishing undergrad, and dont even bother looking for a job. by the time theyre done, theyve been in school so long that they become stupid. not really, but you know what i mean. like when they say you need to speak slowly so the MBAs can understand

btw, what do you currently do for work?

LOL @ red.

Yea, I know. I was thinking about grad school when I started getting closer to graduation b/c I was scared of the real world.

I hope you don't think I was attacking your comments earlier.....I respect your opinion greatly on these forums. You have helped me think through many things in the past.....

I'm DoD, working for NAVAIR as a contract specialist. I am currently working for with their H-60 team, buying blackhawks, seahawks, etc....

Basically, making contracts and price fighting with contractors.

no worries! if we didnt share opinions, this place would be boring!! sounds like an interesting job. and a lot more intersting than mine ha. but the pay is good and jobs are always out there. and for me personally, an MBA would not help in my field at all. what matters is CPA/CIA certification. an MBA will really only help you in a job if you plan on going into top management, which is not something i see myself doing

It has its moments.....

See, I also have no idea what I see myself doing. I have waaaaaay too many interests. :irked: I'm just going one day at a time, lol.

I always look at it from the from your point of view. I don't really know exactly what I want to do, so I want to be prepared for anything. Plus, I kinda like going.

I have a bit of a different persective I guess, because my school name (University of Toronto) helped me to get my job. my school doesn't exactly 'hand out' degrees and my employer knew that. so for me, a 'big name' school helped a lot.

however, it is not always the case.

as far as online learning goes, I just did a 2 year nightschool program (from U of T) in business management. the last two courses I did online.

given the choice, I would not do online courses again.

the reason being I felt the learning experience that you get is far below that of classroom learning. mainly, because you don't get the interactions and discussions that you do in an on campus class. yes, I know there is web interaction (forums and stuff) but I find it was not the same.

I learned better from a more traditional lecture approach.

that being said, if you have no other option (ie you can't quit work to go to school) I would go for it.

but I would see if you could possibly do a progam with night classes first.

I think you may get better learning that way.

True. I have no idea what I want to do, but I do know that I like the business setting (for now). Either way, I do believe that just like economics, an MBA will teach me things I never would have thought of. An MBA will give me another view in life, which I LOVE.

I 100% agree. I would love to go to a brick&mortar school. However, the only B&M's down where I am are horrible. There is a "center for higher learning" where UMD, Johns Hopkins, and a couple other big-name colleges hold classes. Unfortunately, they are a bit out of my price range. By a bit, I mean anywhere from 30k to 100k out of my price range.....

You are doing you homework, thats good. Mass Uni sounds like a very good idea to me. After reading your post. You will be able to keep the lights on at home also.
