First Id worry about the pacman cats eating the armatus even the tig at 6-7" could down a 3-4" armatus. Then its bye bye chalceus, then bye bye silver aro. Its possible that even the armatus will punk on the afro. Mine at 6" killed a 12" silver!

thats why i said watch the african aro.

Well, the Armatus will be grown out untill he is safe in the tank. Then we will see what happens. You guys that are concerned for the African, have you ever seen a full grown one? I mean I undstand the Silver being toast due to the color, and body type. I would expect a silver to be a target. Reading all the success stories and stories of failure with mixing Armatus, I just don't see a fish liek the African have problems. Not that I'm not taking what you are saying into consideration, but the African seems like an ideal mate for this guy. In a large tank, and with others there to help with the agression....

Not trying to be in denial here either guys. Just want to get ahold of the best educated guesses that's all.

I see alot of opinions flying around here sometimes with no exp. behind them...........

I dont think there are too many people here with experience mixing armatus and afros so, you really cant expect any thing with "experience behind it."

I mean in a 450 you will have a year or so before the armatus gets any size on him to do any damage to the afro. But in a year when he is 15"+ he could easily kill the afro if he wanted to. To sum it up, no one knows for sure. We do know that the chalceus will not last and the silver aro has little chance though.

And that's all anyone can give you is educated guess'. Even if you find someone who had an armatus with a african arow it won't tell you anything.. because well IMO and from what I've seen every Armatus is not the same. It's gonna be trial and error all the way with any communitys this early in the game.

Exactly right. Not too many people have experiance mixing much anything with armatus to be honest. And as I said even still someone else may get away with something that you can't due to your fish having a different attitude. We can see this by the "no other silver fish" rule not holding true 100%. Just ask for people to state reasons/experiance behind their answers and that's really the best you'll get..

The Chelceus will more than likely kill eachother without the help of the Armatus. My PTC was still in with my Armatus up till the Armatus was about 11 inches.... The PTC only 5.... Who would have ever thought that would work? It's all going to depend on the Armatus's temperment. Get it on to dead food asap and bring it up with tankmates and you'll be suprised what you can mix with it.....I know I was.....

exactly.
ive seen very large african aros and know how thick they are.
but if an armatus wanted to,it could sure beat the crap out of the african aro.
