Opinions on shark week so far?

I'm under the impression that you don't quite understand water speed. 40mph in the water is super fast. Kinda the equiavalent of 150mph on land. Anything in the water capable of reaching 40mph will launch out of the water if directed in that direction. Great whites are said to be able to reach about 35mph, makos have been clocked at 46mph. These things chase down tunas....and tunas are fast!
ok...that makes sense now. But...for the average (non-fishy) person, whose going to think that? Now that I put more brain power that direction, physics says that yes, a shark can leap out of the water (assuming air resistance is equal to 0 :P ). But, I believe the biologists were looking to see if the sharks breached for prey purposes (specifically dolphin calves)...which was not answered. Additionally the (less showed) other team of biologists did tag a shark and note it's max velocity, which is pretty cool seeing that I didn't know that before.
sharks are not suitable for most private or public aquariums and displaying the act would encourage people to keep them in unsuitable conditions. I feel the show would receive very bad reviews, just look at any YouTube video on a shark aquarium, most of them have a 50% dislike or close to that
Well why not show them the good setups? People try to mimic what other people do all the time, just take a look at all the Takashi Amano inspired nature aquariums out there! Show them the good that people do, rather than the "Tanked" inspired bad ones. Maybe I haven't been to many "bad" public aquariums, but the ones that I did go to (Georgia, Waikiki, New England, and Ripley's), had suitably sized aquariums for all of their inhabitants. And as for private aquariums, have you been to the Sharks and Rays forum lately? Sure, there are stupid questions, but at least those get smart answers. Yeah, the smallest sharks should really be given 250+ size oval aquariums, but still. If somebody is willing to do so, and are for the animal's welfare while in their care, then why not?

you just say a shark I'd suitable for a 250 gallon?? there us no point encouraging keeping sharks. Takashi Amano inspired people to aquascape in a similar fashion, still not that the aquariums he aquascapes to showcase are on average 10x larger then when someone mimics

True most sharks shouldn't be kept but I see people with bamboo shark and I don't see a prob considering most of us on here own a Arowana tht actually gets bigger than the Sharks like those
why when there is a controversial statement people find an anomaly to argue the point? you chose the bamboo shark one that is suitable for aquariums. that would be equivalent to a neon tetra for freshwater. obviously it's suitable, it does not reach the massive preportions of a great white, tiger, bull or any of the other larger species. even a black tip reef
