IME, as I've had this pair over 3 years, there is no difference in their behavior no matter what the size of the 5 tanks they have been kept in. Most their life has been spent in a 6x2x2, but also kept in a 150g 96x18x22", 150g 72x18x27", 120g 60x18x26" and the current 75g tank.
You need to realize that tank size has little to do with the fish and their natural behavior. The decor is for you and not the fish as they really couldn't care less if the tank looks natural of has a big shipwreck with pirate figures. Your have them living is a small glass box feeding them processed food, blasting them with artificial light and if they are lucky they get some fresh clean water once or twice a week. So IMO at best your just hoping for a little "naturual behavior".

tank size and decor have all to do with fish and there behavior i dont know where you've been getting your info from....thats a pretty ignorant comment if you ask me....
but i'll answer your question the 70 gal is to small, and the 75gal isn't to much better. But if you refuse to give them a better home then the 75 is what you should keep them in. Thats like making your dog live in your bathroom, Of corse you could do it, but i't probably isn't the best thing to do yeaaaaaaaa....

so lets compare size to get about equal to your fish and tank size i'd have to put them in a 2 and a half gal and i'm pretty sure they'ed sit there staring into space being miserable....

Thats a fine comparision to a red devil pair that is very terrtorial and 12". Oh and to get the same comparision the RDs would have to be in a 24 foot long 9 foot wide tank. Hardly a glass box, ya think![]()
Have you ever kept a breeding pair of large SA/CA cichlids?
Hey ahh. i think you better check this guys old threads out before you godannyboiiii;4043710; said:yea 2 big black angels and i put them in a 50 breeder and they did fine, picked on each other once in a while, id say the male was around 8 inches high and the female around 6, still 2 pretty decent sized fish....
and yea 24 by 9 thats a pool, but thats what i'm saying the bigger the tank the better. i'm not saying throw them in a pool but you shouldnt be going lower then the 75
