Yeah all those are to big. even parrot fish get to a reasonable size. 5 is too way much fo a 40 at adulthood. id go with firemouth cichlids. 5 would be ok. they only get to be 5 inches and look great. got a few from my lfs for $1.99 each at 2 inches.

found a 250 gallon with stand for $1400 thats the best ive seen though.
i guess "glasscages.com" would be the way to go if a huge tank is needed, for a 170gal tank with oak stand and canopy its $1200
i got a 180 gallon with a sump , stand, canopy for $250 , now thats the deal of a century but the other day i saw a 300 gallon tank for $100 but it was tank and stand only
Yeah, you can find some CRAZY deals on craigslist by people just trying to get rid of their tank.
yeah i know, i got my 40gal on craigslist but i guess the people in my area arent too big on giving away fish tanks, even if all they do is take up space. i can't find a 150+ tank for under $1000
sorry best one ive seen was about 2 weeks ago. here in florida a guy had a 220 that he was giving away. for FREE!!! didnt see it till the next day and it was gone. just my luck
