yeah contemplating on a bichir, not sure which one yet. I dont want froggy or short bodied either.

I have a SA lung right now, and i read somewhere they get along fine.

Should be fine with a good upper jaw, excluding weeksii, ornate, and teugelsi. Lower jaws can nip on SA lungs fins so maybe not those. SA lungs aren’t like their African doppelgängers.

Ive never kept a lung but imo there wss no difference in aggression/nipping between uppjaw and lowejaw. Probably an even split.

Atm i only have 1 uppjaw the rest are lowers and none bother my cats

What size tank ? Ive had butti that was nasty, a sen that was nippy for a while too

clm08k had a moke that was a wanna be manson. Imo uj amd lj are equally peaceful/aggressive

All in all they are peaceful fish

If you're looking to get a CB Koliba aka 'Striped lapredei'. There's small ones at wetspot for $40. Attached what they normally look like at the store and one that grew to 9"-10".

alright, sounds like a little tank swapping to find out who will cohab with my sa lung, but overall peaceful to most other fish that wont fit in their mouths

Mokelemembe and Palmas palmas.

Polys can be nippy and yes clm08k did have a nippy moke but towards other polys.

J jaws7777 is right any poly can be nippy. Seen a bit more with lower jaws.

Seen African lungs with other lower and upper jaws and no issues. Seen the African lungs tear uppolys too. SA lungs have seen been vicitms if other fish aggression on occasion. Never seen the reverse. So that’s why i suggest it. Plus I don’t see too many kept and large ones. Sought after imo and I’m cautious.

If ur heart is set on a cb lap then still worh a try. Keep a divider or spare tank in case.
