So I live on a lake in Florida and was inquiring on the thoughts of others if I went and netted some crayfish and ghost shrimp and put them in the tank for food for my oscars, sevrums and Jack Dempsey, or is the risk of parasites too great to try it

Risk of parasites too great. If u can qt and pre-treat with meds then u can reduce the risk. Still wouldn’t do it as ur jd should be fine with just a pellet.

Hello fellow Floridian.

I take live foods from the wild all the time such as earthworms and insects, but only from land, as fewer parasites/diseases can thrive in both land and water. I would never feed my fish anything I caught in another body of water.
