Well I had my 3-4 day bad-aquarium rock excursion there a little while back, ya'll might remember, I ended up with red Estes Spectrastone.......

Well someone just gave me 50lbs of red Estes Spectrastone!

so I have 125lbs of gravel in total. Now my question is: Can I put 125lbs of rock in a 70 gallon? It's the type of tank that the bottom glass sits very low, no 1/2" or 1/4" space under there between the the tank and stand, and all viewing panels on the tank (front, back, sides) sit on top of the bottom plate of glass.

There is a 1 1/4" piece of ply under my whole tank on the steel stand.

i dont think u will have a problem, one gallon of water is close to 8 lbs,

tanks are surprisely strong, considering they are just held together by glue

Okay I think i'm safe, 5 gallons of water weighs 41.7 pounds(8.3lbs per gallon) , all the rocks are in a 5 gallon pail, so i'll only be adding 8.3 lbs of weight...

time to go have fun

well got it done. Here's a couple pics, and a pic of my ghetto night light (spray painted a 20 watt aqua-glo bulb and fixture Ford Blue...hehe. The paint is high heat so it's not going to melt back off, it gives me a nice glow at night, not bright at all, looks like the moon reflecting off the lake at night time. Oh and that's a piece of ABS under the gravel that the fish can swim right into.....

What does the tank look like when this is on? That's what I wanna see!

i'll take a pic in a hour or 2 when the lights have shut off and its dark, it's not too bright, a bit less paint it would be brighter....ill snap a pic of the bottom side with it on in a minute here

Nice, I bet with a slightly brighter color blue and about a 6100K light it would look just like the moon lights the company makes. But, yours is sweet.

Nice... But I would have just used blue construction/ tissue paper taped to the bottom of the light.

I<3Fish, where in the world would you find a 6100k light?
