Apparently the grey tankcar lost a wheel going across the Steele bridge about 100 feet to the left side of the last pic.

Freight train derails in Northwest Portland, traffic blocked, no injuries

Portland Fire and Rescue are on scene of a train derailment along Naito Parkway, just to the north of the Steel Bridge.

And this is how they put a engine back on the tracks

Well by midnight they had the cars and engine back on track. And by 7:33AM they had fixed one of the two sets of tracks and trains started back up. Here it is at noon thirty and the second set of tracks are almost done.

Here it is 10AM Monday and the repairs are done. Both sets of tracks fixed. The track swither the engine obliterated replaced and trains are again running on both lines.

Can't tell for certain but it looks like they ran through that switch without opening it. Lot of young crews in our industry right now and a lot of veterans have resigned or retired in the last few years.

The grey grain car and the engine derailed on the bridge itself. Luckily just the last two cars derailed. They still can't figure why.
