options with jd

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Depends on what type of set up you want.If you want just a Sa & Ca tank there many options. If you want to mix them with africans you can do that to. Depends on what you want to do and how big your JD's are.

Dont really know! never had the pleasure of having any. I do have a mixed tank of SA's and africans. It wasn't my choice I got a really good deal on the set up and the fish came with the tank. They have been doing really well together.

An oscar could work. I have one with my JD pair.
I also have a common pleco, three corys, and a school of serpae tetras(as dithers).

i dont have any jds yet my 125 is empty. would the demon earth eaters work with them?

Are you refering to the Satanoperca spp. of eartheaters? They are not really very tough and might not handle the aggression from the Dempseys very well. I had one a while back that would get harassed terribly by realtively peaceful cichlids like Bujurquina vittata and red hump eartheaters.

in a tank that size most smaller and medium size Central American species can mix well with the Dempsey, like convicts for example. just stay away from the guapotes, red devils and larger Vieja.

I've seen many successful tanks with guapote and jacks. Although I wouldn't put one with a Dovii but other cichlids of the parachromis family such as Loisellei, Motas, Jags, Freddies, etc. A nice tiger oscar looks good with a jack and a schoal of dithers. If I were you I would do a Bio-Tope with that tank. All Centrals. Like salvini's and othe Med. sized cichlids.

with JD's your options are almost only as limited as the fish you can get your hands on, as long as those fish grow big, and can defend themselves, RD's, festae, FM's, O's, jags, uros, convicts, blackbelts, and rainbow cichlids are just a few of a vast assortment of choices that can go with JD's
