I've kept them w/ oscars, Geo jurupari, severums, green terrors, convicts, carpinte, cyannogutatum, bichirs, firemouths, blue acaras, black belts etc...
I currently have one in my 135 with 1 Green terror, 1 severum, 1 carpinte, 1 senegal bichir and 2 silver dollars with no problems. They chase each other around sometimes but no ripped fins or bullied fish. I think some big dithers are a must with JD's though. Try giant danios or silver dollars.
