Picked up my first little guy he is around 5" to small to breed but am wondering what he could breed with and what would result in best fry am told he is a kamfamalau not sure if this is good or bad really lol, I have a few fish growing out including festae dovi Midas, and a unknown amph poss another horn. What would u suggest or should I scrap them and look for something else.

best is trial and error, unless you have a strong line breed going already. Depends on what you're looking to make. There's infinite possibilities.
 
Get him a female kamfa or gm try and keep those sweet heavy pearls going into a new generation.
 
synspilum will give you some kamfas and great coloring. Or just buy something that is already showing promising looks. If you're trying to sell...big kok, color (strong colorings are normally the best visually), pearls, and finnage are all a factor when determining grades. Look for deformities before making any purchase and always buy from a reputable vendor. You will probably not find much at the LFS if you want to create your own line, or it will be a pretty long process if you start from the bottom. Easiest way to have good success is cross breeding the great strains that are already available, and or mixing them with other high grade cichlids. As a responsible seller, you should also be aware of what you're using to breed fish and sell them as such.
