Not to be a prick or anything...But legally you can't sell this fish for cash. Ohiolaws says wild caught native fish can't be sold. Only native fish bred in captivity under a aquaculture permit can be sold.
Just a heads up,don't want to see anyone get in trouble.

Is bowfin considered game fish? If not, I believe you could get a commercial fishing license to sell non-game fish legally, if caught legally. Not sure if the law is the same in Ohio though.

Would putting "re-homing fee" change anything?

Bow fin is not a game fish and fish was caught over size limit, making it legal to take home. My friend just so happen not to kill it but it alive, also this fish was caught out of state from ohio which I also makes it legal.

If I can sell it, I will give it away, and hopefully u can buy me something for being a good guy
Or trade for some fish

Either way nobody seems to come though on there offers so it will just go away one way or another I need to make room, and he keeps trying to get out of the 35gal which is way to small for him.

hello
if he's free, ill take him and give him a great home, just check out my profile and you will see i have many large tanks to house him in, and ill come pick him up when you want me to
thanks

Your right,It is perfectly legal for you to have and keep it. But to get rid of it...you must either give it away or trade it. It's illegal to sell for cash unless you have an aquaculture permit and the fish was captive bred and raised.
I know this because I asked the Ohio Dnr because I'm trying to get rid of a 10 inch saugeye.

The seller got it in a different state therefore the ODNR doesn't really have control over it like the saugeye that you caught in this state.

My saugeye came from a different state(IN).I got it from a friend that caught it thier.
It is a fish that is native to Ohio that is now in Ohio.
I know about trying to get around the loopholes. Since I live within an half hour of IN. I thought why not catch darters and other fish there...bring them home and sell them,NO.
I called the DNR and asked these questions. Only fish not native to Ohio's waters can be sold without aquaculture permit.
I just don't want to see a fellow MFKer get a fine for something that I could give them a heads up on.

Huh, that's odd; I've never heard of a state restricting the sale of fish that are not collected from its waters. Of course then, I remember reading a few years ago about a reptile show in Ohio getting raided by the ODNR after native reptiles were offered for sale despite the fact that they were mostly of different color morphs that would rarely, if ever, occur in the wild and were all captive bred. :screwy: I wonder if they extend that to include fish and other critters that used to occur in Ohio, too?

I guess it will have to be for free or trade then; it really sucks for the seller that it has to be this way.

What they told me the reason was that thier is no proof it was not caught in Ohio.
I asked what if I had a receipt from an out of state seller. They said "anyone can make a receipt".

You can buy fish all day long, just don't try to sell them.

I am interested. I have a 3000 gallon outdoor pond. I am currently at work but will check in from time to time. How far from Indianapolis? Willing to split the difference?
