Orange Head Tapajos growth thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
After months of these fishing laying eggs and eating them a pair has finally figured it out. The parents are letting them free swim often now I tried to get a video but its hard to see the fry since they're so small. I have no intentions of raising the fry myself I will just let nature take its course and see what happens most likely they will be eaten eventually. [YT]6ceP3XoS47g[/YT]

Nice update on your fish :-)
Not sure if I am missing something without a fts, but:
When redhead parents get nervous trying to protect fry & keep them gathered together, they eat them.
They really depend on visual boundaries more than aggressive CAs which you may be used to (?).
Yours need low dense 'walls' of fake plants (&/or rocks) to give them the feeling that the tank corner is somewhat blocked off & more defensible from tankmates, where fry can venture around a bit inside a defined area. Parents would become much more relaxed in the care/herding routine. at least that is my experience with them.
