you should order six to make sure you get a pair , and you probably will need a bigger tank for the pair and they can be real aggressive and some are not , i would put a bichir or something of that nature in there maybe a school fish like the rainbows or some gaint danios

my growout tank is to small to put 6 juveniles in there im just going with what i can get

those look really good how big are they full grown, and are they fast?

Are you talking about the rainbow fish?

The one in the link M. Herbertaxelrodi (or yellow rainbowfish, or Axelrod's rainbowfish), and the one in my picture, M. lacustris (or turquoise rainbowfish or Lake Kutubu rainbowfish) all grow to about 4 inches. They are a favorite dither of many cichlid owners. They prefer to be in a school of 6 or more, and males should not outnumber females.

They are fast swimmers, but they don't dart and "patrol" like danios. They are quite hardy and eat everything including algae.

There are many species in every color imaginable, some are more difficult to obtain than others. The species range in size when full-grown from 2 inches to 6 inches or more. They develop their coloration as they mature, so very small juveniles are not as flashy as adults. The fish in my picture is about 6 months old, 2.5 inches at the time.

I used to have 2 females in a 210 and they would get pretty agressive when protecting their eggs.
Otherwise they were no more aggressive than an electric blue dempsey ,although I know someone who was trying to make pairs and when they put a couple in with a big male he killed them the 1st time around.
2nd time around they paired up.

:headbang2fish are ordered they will be here before 10:30 A.M. tommorow!:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2
