Orino Agrssion, MAJOR ISSUES

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I could be wrong.... :)

always leave your temp at 87.. as for separation, one is always going to be the whipping boy and once you take one out they are just going to move down to another so i would just let nature be and make sure he gets his fair share of food and you have your tank covered

hope everything works out. I made the decision to separate my orino from my other two because it was picking at them to the point where they were losing scales and had torn fins. They'll catch up, though, just as yours will. Yours might not pick to the extent mine did, but I agree that a larger tank is in order.

I have two 6'' orinos in my 75 and one always picks on the other. I just try to make sure that he gets enough food and let them work it out.:shakehead

I had the same problem for awhile. The cure was MORE fish. I added a couple more cichla, an equal size Oscar, and a little smaller Firemouth. The bullly was still the bully, but it was spread around more rather than focused on one fish. Eventually he all but quit beating up the other fish. He is still the alpha and makes it known now and then, just not as extreme as when it was just the 2 Orinos.

i'd just take out the mono that is getting beat up and at a later time add it back. keep the orinos with the other monos if they get along. if you seperate the orinos from everyone, they may always never want any other pbass around them in the future. You want them to accept tank mates esp pbass tank mates. and i believe with other posts saying that the problem may be that they just need a bigger home. that's my 2 pennies
