Hi
Does someone have an idea about how old orinos start to breed, male, female?

thx

i would say mine are a year old.. they are 10.5 and 11.5 inches and they have already started breeding patterns... moving gravel away from the rocks and will not let any other fish go near it

Id say for some successful spawnings or at least eggs, 2-3 years and a body size of 16"+.
:iagree: this is about right there are cases were htey breed at a younger ages and smaller sizes as well.

I believe Cichla temensis takes the longest to sexually mature, and that's at 14 months...so I assume C. orinocensis is the same as C. ocellaris @ about 10-12 months. There's documentation on the Internet of the ages at which some Cichla mature. You'll have to "google" it.

Mine bred for the first time at 2 years of age, but killed 3 females during the year previous, so....who knows :D

Wow all from the breeding process? That is discouraging. So it was the third female that you had success with? Don't mean to derail this thread sorry to the OP.
