Close call! You wouldn't want some 1.5 inchers in a 180 they would get lost and you would'nt see them but then you would find them stuck on your filter 2 weeks laterOh thought they were 3 inch. Then yes I will def grow them out in 35g. Planning on gong Thurs.
In my group of 3 peacocks one was bulling the other 2 in a 10 so I moved them all to a 50 and I have no problems with aggression so I'm pretty sure aggresion won't be your problem but they might get lost in there like one day you see them one day you don't try to get a smaller tank for them untill they gain a couple inches maybe like a 20 or 30 untill they are 4 inches long then move them the orios got restocked so now they are only about 1.5-1.75 inches max.
If you can, buy as many as you can afford. I've had better results whenever starting with larger groups (6 or more) and then thinning the herd down to what will fit in your final tank. Larger groups are easier to pellet train, and the aggression levels are very minimal to non-existent. Also too you get to pick out the best looking ones and sell or trade the rest away.
