the weirdest thing happened today.

my orino started getting a cloudy film on the outside of his eyes a few days ago. so today i decided to take him out of the 450 and into a 150 gal q-tank.

first off i find it very weird that he was getting sick in the first place. i drip 175 to 200 gallons per day, and i have a 57 watt uv on the tank.

anyway, as soon as i transfered him he started to spaz out and died within 30 min. i was going very crazy trying to figure out wht happened, especially since i just transfered a 1 month old stingray pup to this tank the day b4 from the same exact 450 that the bass was in. so it was the same exact water param transfer and the little pup is still doing great and started eating 5 min after the transfer. :screwy:

i tested all params and both tanks are exactly the same 7.0 ph and 30 ppm nitrate 80 degrees

only thing i can think of is stress, i just cant believe a 12" couldnt handle it

guess im just venting and i think im in the twilight zone

Man, sorry for your loss. No matter how experienced you are, and how much care you take of your fish, this sort of thing happens.

Sorry for your loss:( I know what you mean. I had a fish that was sick. I transferred it to the hospital tank and it died a couple hours later.

+1 vamp Kinda wierd that his Eye or Eyes ? were getting clouded .And water could not be the issue he might have smashed the glass and injured himself. And with the move maybe to much ...You'll never know for sure Sorry brother:(

Man that sucks. I lost an 8" Jag similar to that. He was in a 90 by himself and I was in the basement watching him and all of a sudden he started twitching and spazzing out then 3 minutes later was floating upside down. Died within a half hour. Water parameters were fine too.

been there, so sorry for your loss.

we had an orino tragedy this morning too. i was getting ready to go to bed at 2 am and found him stuck in the heater bracket, dead. looks like he was trying to be slick and slide through the back of the heater bracket like he did when he was smaller and got stuck right at his gills so he couldn't breath. i had to take the entire bracket out to get him loose, he was stuck pretty tight.

we did a 30 gallon water change in a hurry at 2:30am because i didn't know how long he had been dead and 3 of the bichers were hanging near the top of the water, not just just going up for air and going back down like they normally do. everybody looks happy and healthy today.. thank goodness.

thanks for the great comments guys!

im feelin better

might be an excuse to get some growouts :)
