did you chase him around the tank a lot trying to catch him? cichla are very delicate in my experience. they will flip over and die for no reason, especially when chasing them around with a net and when transporting them. i think it was just a stress overload. it's weird, its like they just shut down and die from being stressed out too much

this is exactly wht happened but it was a fairly quick catch... i only missed him w the net once

Sorry for the lost.I'm not trying a derail but last Feb I lost 6 huge one's due to the cold front that came through here in Florida.2 of the pbass were ready to spawn.I was in the hospital in a coma for 10 days and my wife didn't know what to do.When I came out of the coma she told me first thing about and it was a easy fix.2 pbass lived.One was a huge female and the second was a small male.The male came through with glassy eyes and is blind.6 months later he is ok.skinny but ok.He swims around in the 15,000 and bump into everything.
