i have seen cichla breed in a ful takes of cichla but i will warn you that since these are orinos most likely your other cichla are going to take a beating.

I've definetly noticed. The aggression is only toward other cichla though. I'm going to try and pick up a bunch of dithers to distract them. I do regular water changes and add salt so nothing too serious thus far. I'm hoping once I add the azuls to the big tank that it will help spread out some of the chaos.
 
Just an update on this...I've been experimenting with hot and cold water changes with no results. I'm beginning to think these guys may just be too small to actually spawn? Male is about 15" and the female is 12".

Also, they managed to finally kill the runt of the group last night :(

15" and 12" are right around the size pbass will breed at...just give them a little more time

I was just gonna say that try to add black water I have heard that has given people success. And Im like jose I call some babys :naughty::popcorn::naughty:

And sorry about your runt, how big was he/she? And are these the venezulans you were trying to sell?
