I just got an orino from john this week. 1.5" is generous. Good looking specimen, but very small! Smaller than my roseys, so I just have him in my feeder quarantine tank for now. Gonna get him a temporary 10 gal today so I can grow him out a lil to put him in with my other cichla.

What are you feeding it, idk what to feed them if theyre smaller than feeders.

I did ask John before I received it what they had been eating. He told me guppies, so I got a couple dozen from the LFS. And the little guy has been nailing them since day 1, no hesitation! I'm gonna try and get him to take some thawed bloodworms as well.

lost 3 of 9 due to ich. Johns aware of the ich problem.

That sucks, did they show when you received them? I am planning on buying some from John, but I asked him to delay shipment while I setup a smaller growout, maybe that'll be a good thing to wait...

yeah they showed up with ich. He said he's aware they have it.

They have ich? Awesome, he failed to mention that to me. I guess I will take some preventative action for my guy, he's still alive so hopefully thats a good sign.

do a water change, raise the temp up to 88 and add aquarium salt. i use 1 tsp per 5 gallons and keep well aerated.

Ich seems to be pretty prevalent in young cichla,in my case anyhow.Every baby bass that I've gotten had an attack at one point or another.
