Well I have notified some potential buyers that this guy will be going up for sale. It’s unfortunate, because he’s so much more active now but thinks he should take out all the other fish while at it. The bite marks on the achara (wasn’t able to get photos) suggest that he is targeting its gills but seems to just miss them. My pleco seems to protect the achara.

Do polys do that? Target another fishes gills? The achara is probably 3” longer and a fair bit girthier so its the biggest fish currently. But mosey seems to want control of the tank...

I dont think so hes just trying to eat it. They say eye sight is poor, but mine can see me across the room. Maybe when compared to other fish its poor or in the wild looking for food. I dont think our tanks are big enough for poor eye site to be an issue for them. At the same time I dont think they specialize in their killing techniques. They nip fins as a get outta my face type thing. Those marks are "you are food to me". Some of them are just that way. A decision needs to be made and he may need to be an only child in the tank. He might attack anything put with him even bigger fish. You could try other polys but it doesnt sound like you want a poly only tank, and he may attack other polys too.

I would love to have a poly only tank but it will be a huge investment for me since everyone here has turned my tastes to such wonderful lj species that will be more expensive. I don’t want to do this before I move next year. I will have to downsize fairly dramatically for the move then build back up once we are there.

I have friends who will take most of my big fish once I am moving but don’t want to invest too much for now with an understanding of a move in the future.

I think he is smarter than most would give credit. I come close and he is cool, as soon as my phone or camera comes up, peace. Not sure if that’s a sight issue or what but seems to know when I’m trying to take a photo.

So I haven’t been able to let mosey go yet. I wanted to try to keep him and let the chichlas grow a bit more.

So today I was just about to move the biggest bass over and see what happens. And I realized mosey has a big bump in his belly. It seems to me like he got one of the botias. This makes me even more nervous to move the bass.

My alerts arent getting to me. That weird man. I only had one poly that messed with cichlids it was a juvie pbb. I honestly think the fish was just scared and uber defensive but sold him off anyway.

I had to rehome my ornate which sucked i miss that fish. My son still breaks my chops to get another one. He was tearing up our juruense. To make matter worse we didnt know it was him and rehomed a really cool sp.dabola before we witnessed him doing it.

Its sucks no doubt.
