Question for you. Would it be better to use the lava rock from my sump that has been collecting B.B. for the last 6-8 months in the ac110 or go with the 2 new sponges to leave no empty spaces in the media cartridge. Or maybe mix it with a sponge and some lava rock?...
I just want to cuss that I literally have to run to try for a pic of this guy (or girl). I feel ashamed saying that these are the better photos.
Ps I’m not sure how to sex mosey, I tried to get a photo good enough to do that, any ideas?...
Something to consider. Ive used pre filyet sponges before and for me they clog up too fast. Im lazy lol just something to think about. Even foam pads act as bio filtration anything the bacteria can colonize is part of the filtration.
So aquarium coop doesn’t ship to Canada and the closest thing my lfs had was a sponge filter. So that being said the sponge has a big hole all the way through it.
I figured I would hot rod the hot rod. I made an opening in the existing intake so I could fit the insert for the sponge filter on it. Then just filled the hole in the bottom with the regular sponge filter bottom. This was a little loose and I figured it might fall out so I zip tied it together. So far it’s Jimmie rigged up enough that if I don’t like it I will just drop the air stone and run that line into the sponge and keep the ac110. Now let’s see how it turns out.
Its probably still to young to tell but to me looks like it could be male. I dont think it's mature yet though. It's funny until my dels hit 8-9 inches I thought they were both female. Then all of a sudden tthe fin widened and got real bulgy around the base and I would catch them cupping the fin. So it can change overnight.
