Ornate bichir in a 125g?

fishhead0103666 the knife fish are pretty fast and get a decent size 8-10"

I know about them, I’ve kept a dozen of them before, they are nowhere as fast as you think they are and 8”-10” means nothing if they’re skinny. Rethink your decisions now if you wish to keep all inhabitants, I recommend not getting the ornate.

fishhead0103666 I have 3 right now and they can be really fast when they want to be for example when i drop food in the tank I have all the fish Listed except the Afer Knife, Odoe pike, eel and Ornate.

ok so if the ornate wont work what about the Afer, Odoe and Back spotted eel? would they be fine to add to the fish I already have?

The size of the ornate is not an issue IMO. My ornate has went from roughly 4 inches to about 8-9 inches in 6 months in a 220 but I expect him to slow at the 12 inch mark. It’s the other fish that might end up being a snark like an African knife

The Afer will get too big and kill everything at one point, the odoe stays semi in the size range but definitely more aggressive than the ornate. I’d go ornate over the other options personally.

K krichardson knows about afer knives, I do not. From what I’ve learned they’re aggressive and big. I believe 18”-24” is common?

Had 3 Ornate's and one was a little over 17 inches. Also had a Black Ghost Knife tail bitten off completely by a Bichir.

My 9-10 inch Lap just bit the lower tail off my 6 inch Tigrinus the other week ?
