A LFS near me is selling a 4-5" ornate bichir for $60.
Is this a good price? This is the 1st time I've seen them for sale or in person.

The price isn't bad. Bichirs were cheap a couple of years ago when nobody wanted them, I have 4 of the Senegal variety. I bought one 6" 3 years ago for $20, and 2 years ago I picked up 3 2" for $5 bucks a piece. These same specimens are available in my LFS's for around 45 to 90 bucks depending on size.
I think $60 is a little bit too high. I bought mine at same size for $50. It was my first time seeing one too so I bought it. Then the next day I saw one for sale at a different LFS for $30 
. You can probably find a cheaper one if you look hard enough or you can probably talk to your LFS and see if they can bring down the price.

You can probably find a cheaper one if you look hard enough or you can probably talk to your LFS and see if they can bring down the price.wow that is an extremly high price...i believe buying it online is even cheaper...at my LFS's i've found them for $25-$35 at 2 seperate locations...and in fact i bought 4 that were about 6-8 inches for 25 a piece but that was a one time deal...after that the same store offered them for 30
Senegal Bichir over hear at the moment - £5each ($9 or there asbout's), thats 4 a 4'ish inch fish
if you by 2 you get both 4 £9 that works out @ $8.5 each
