Hi
I have a ornate around 6 inches. Yesterday he was belly up on the bottom of the tank. I moved him to another tank because he had red markings on his stomach. His was turning pale too. Now he is resting in the bottom like a normal bichir, but no movement, just breathes. I have added and aeration.
I suspect it was due to feeding because he ate alot on teusday. Maybe internal parasite?
seems to be better but iam still worried:(
Any suggestions?

What are tank parameters? What was food? Try putting in a hospital tank with clean water maybe add meth blue and salt to see if condition improves.

Yes he is in a hospital tank. Sorry we do not get test kits in srilanka:(
He was fed a few small pieces of chicken. I usually feed them shrimp so maybe that was the problem.
He seems to be regainig color however he is stiff

It could be a parasitic issue, I wouldn't feed chicken to the ornate, but fish or small pieces of pellet.

So he was belly up on the bottom of the tank? And now his belly is on the substrate like a normal bichir?
