Ornate Bichirs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats awesome your findong success with thst group as there are some pretty heavy hitters in there lol. All you can do is keep an eye, hooe for the best and act when needed. Sounds like you jave back up plans if needed so kudos to you

Thanks mate. Yeah there are for sure some heavy hitters but as they have all been raised since 2 inches or so (other than the bichirs and BGK) its been a pretty chill grow out so far. Occasionally I get a bit of fin damage or if there's any serious injuries I quarantine and heal up the injured fish. I do have a couple alternate tanks and quarantine boxes (if the fish is small enough) to try to prevent deaths as I don't want to see any die. I probably will have to rehome the jag long term though as I see it becoming a problem long term. I also forgot to mention I have a blue acara as well. I would be happy to keep a couple large monster cichlids long term with 2 monster ornates,2 senegals and BGK :D

Couple of updates for you guys. I decided I would put the Ornates in the main tank with their fellow Senegal Bichirs and so far all has been well. They seem very happy and have started to become a lot more active as they settle in. Also few bonus pictures of my larger BGK and a few photo bombs from other fish. Sorry about my sand its a bit scattered at the moment since last water change. I have also decided to go back to the guy's place who sold me the two Ornates and I am considering buying his third ornate and see if he will sell me any other Bichir's as he as a few (mostly Senegals but also a larger Tiger Bichir). Or I might consider a spotted gar not sure yet. Would change up my tank to suit the new fish if I get them.20170708_164919.jpg 20170708_164920.jpg 20170708_164926.jpg 20170707_195341.jpg 20170707_195345.jpg 20170707_194915.jpg 20170707_194938.jpg 20170707_194706.jpg

Thanks guys. I seem to be on the fast track to becoming a Poly addict lol. Don't get me wrong I love my American Cichlids but you just can't beat the prehistoric fish :D and oddballs. If I do get any more poly's or spotted gars I will definitely rehome some of the Cichlids.
