Hey jaws, I really like the look of my gold dust when I had it. Not a big boy like the ornate but a beautiful specimen to consider.

Yup thought of them too wetspot has some gonna let my son choose....it was his pleco we sold so ya know how that goes. How was the gold dusts personality?

So whars the personality of an ornate like ?

Im reading through some old threads and it seems like they are aggressive and hide

Jaws I have 2 adult females in my 180 with a 10 inch cb del, 10 inch endli, 6 inch male sen, purple wolf 4 mixed sd's, 3 adult geo cichlids and they all get along well.:) The largest ornate is the boss and will nip occasionally when she doesn't want any one near her lol. I don't have a full led strip across the top because I want them to have a place to rest from the light. The ornates are active sometimes, and I will catch them swimming around.

mhhh I just hate spending money on something that hides all the time

Out of all the polys I've raised the Senegalus were the active ones, that's why they are one of my favorites, dels are active too imo.:)

Yeah my del is super active

Ornates seem to be labeled somewhat aggressive by a considerable amount of people, but I have had no problems what so ever with my large female (I think she's probably pushing 14" now, but hard to tell), and my smaller ornate (about 5"). That being said the personality of a particular fish can vary just as in the personality of people.

My 13" ornate isn't aggressive at all but it does try and hide all the time .... The 5" one I used to have u wouldn't even no it was on the tank I saw it maybe 10 times in 6 months lol
