Hi maybe somebody can help me out I have 2 ornates about 4 inches in a 125gl tank one is beating on the other always biting it and it's tail is getting messed up..what can i do?
Should i put more in the tank will this stop them from fighting since theres only two in the tank now?

Should i get other types of fish and put them in the tank?
If so what types go good with them?

THANKS

Bichirs usually show more aggression toward each other when still young. This usually stops around 6"-7". I'm not sure if adding more bichir's or other fish will help with the aggression, but it wouldn't hurt to try, as you have plenty of space. If that doesn't work just seperate them until they grow bigger.

Ornates tend to be the more aggressive species. You could add some more to spread the aggression and/or add some more hiding spots.

Thanks guy's i spoke with the guy who i purchased them from he said most likely if i add more it will lesson the fighting.... thing is now if i get new ones thay may be almost 1 or 2 iches smaller than mine will this matter?

Also could i mix different types will this be good?

THANKS

Different bichir species are normally fine together. The only thing is that if they are very different sizes, the smaller ones could end up as food

hidng spots is the key
they should not pursue each other, as they are almost blind

adding more should help
i mean, if you triple thep opulation or add some senegals, dels, endli and palmas, thsi will stop the problem hopefully
if it doesnt, then you are screwed:D

but, how bout this
hget rid of the small one thats attacking, and get another one.
maybe its just a aggressive fish you have.

my ornate which is about 15 inches never attacks and hides wiht the 4 dels, 2 palmas and 1 albino senegalus in my 1200 litre tank.

but its a very passive ornate

1 or 2 inch will not matter
4 to 5 inch perhaps/
but like i said, i hav a ornate that is more than double the length and girth of all my other bichirs. no worries.

1" or 2" isn't going to make a difference. And yes...you can mix and match Polys.
