I'm picking up a small (ie less than 5 inch) ornate bichir today and his tank isn't done cycling yet (him and the silver aro (also less than 5 inches) will be moving into the 90 gallon in a few days). Will the ornate be okay in the 25 for a little bit?

If by a little bit you mean just a week or so while your tank finishes cycling, you'll be fine. While Ornates grow quickly and grow large, you won't wake up tomorrow to find a 18" ornate swallowing your Aro.

If the tests keep reading the way that they do on the 90 that is cycling, I should be able to move the both of them in 2-3 days.

you'll be fine for a lot longer than 2-3 days. don't worry about it.

you could probably leave the ornate in the 25 for a cpl of months and it would be fine
and the smaller tank would make it easier to find food.and still have room to swim about
just my thoughts -Anne

thanks anne, I'll keep that in mind. I was just a little worried about, because they both should be eating quite a bit, the water quality getting out of controll too fast. But I guess if I just keep up with the changes they'll be fine.

Thanks again

Brought the little one home today, and will let him settle in before I take pictures....but it's safe to say I'm in love with bichirs....bichir tank here I come!

sure do! Like I said earlier, it'll be moved into the 90 gallon within the week and in May I'll have my 225...so I've got the room for him
