I just noticed a large lump on the side of my ornate as well, halfway down his body, just a large lump. Are they prone to this maybe?

did you feed it? most of the time it's just food because they like to gorge. Mine has not eaten in weeks and still has this lump
It has been fed, but i can tell that's not it, it's right on her side and the head of the lump has a red tinge to it, its definitely not normal.
I would say it sounds like maybe an infection. It may be time to up the temp, add some salt and an antibiotic.
My problem is solved...the lump was a large tankmate...the redness was the other fish bulging out of her stomach...
