Yeah tell me about it. Australia is unique because it has very few people, a huge landmass (more expensive transport), high minimum wages, high taxation, and is an isolated island with its own evolved ecosystem so the strictest customs in the world. The confluence of all these factors make owning desirable rare exotic pets prohibitively expensive if not outright illegal (eg., arowanas). Even Johnny Depp got into trouble with not declaring his two yorkshire terriers to quarantine on arrival LOL.
