Ornate with no fins part2 w/pix

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
as said if you can get better pics that'd be great.

seeing how both fins are like that its really hard to say whether its injury or something else.

YES!!! I'm now positive that the fins are growing back. I'm not the best at taking pictures but in person you tell that the clear semi circle in the pix are the new fins.

Usually is the muscle is undamaged the fin will grow back, Bichirs are like little underwater tanks, they can take a couple hard hits and go on with their business like nothing ever happened.

nice.. if it helps my tiretrack eel got his left fin bitten off and it healed?? they are kinda similar hahah

i think it will grow back. my endlicheri for example hated the 10g i had him in and repeatedly jumped. and lost a good chunk of his snout. it took about 3 months but its good as new. the barbels even grew back:)

well I finally got around to taking the pix of the ornate I got for free cuz it had no fins. When I first brought it home there was red blotchy spots on the nubs that would be his fins, but now the red is gone and it looks like the fins are going to grow back, (I hope) sorry the pix are soo blurry and you cant really see this too clearly but, what do you guys think?
No Problem, One of my Ornates had a fight with a larger Ornate, (now seperated) One of his pectorals was torn down to just a small part of muscle lobe, grew back very fast about 1 month, fantastic repair! just kept a close eye on water and added a couple of doses of melafix to help him along!

Once had a senegalus that I got for free because he only had one fin. Ended badly though. So I hope the opposite for you :)
