Freshwater snowflakes start out in fresh but need salt as adults so you can gradually add salt to the tank and when you need a bigger tank just transfer your media. It sounds like your tank is cycled but I would wait another week just to be sure. 1.010 is 1 cup per 5 gallons, is that what you are doing? Thats what I am at. Columbian sharks grow pretty fast in an SG around there as do scats. Both are really cool species. Archers are cool as well. Can't forget about puffers! Check my threads, there is one all about brackish and another one showing pics of my tank.

yep the puffer, a puppy with gills :) There is just so much you can do with a 55 though.
I am only doing 3 gallon water changes now to help with the cycle. I set up a tub and add 3 gallons of water, decloranade,(sp) and 2 TBLS of salt per gallon (6 TBLS). This brings it to about 1.009-1.010, I do this the night before i do the water change. It sets in the tub over night with a powerhead to churn. After the cycle is done, i figure i will be doing a 5 or 10 gallon water change every week or 2.
Right now, yesterday i got my first eel, i tire track eel. His color pattern is like a Burmese python. Realy nice. This is kinda a pratice run before the freshwater snowflake. So for so bad.:irked: I have not seen him eat yet. I tried frozen blood worms with no luck yet. I do hope its just the new tank shyness. He is out and about alot. I have a few things for him to hide in,but he just sits behind the filter inlet or heater. I put the blood worms in with a medicince droper right in front of him. He just looks like he sniffs it and goes on. The Oscars or now spoild for blood worms and wont take the pellets:irked: But im worried to not try to feed the eel so inturn the oscars get blood worms. Well, i will be going back to the LFS tomorrow all ask them about it. I seen him feed the eel before i took it, ate the same blood worms i had..:screwy:

here is a pic.

Funny it takes you over night to do a 3 gallon water changes. It takes me 45 minutes to do a 20 gallon water change on my tank.

What brand of salt are you using?

Instant Ocean sea salt.
I thought this was the way to do it. hmm, im taking this from my brother who as saltwater tanks.. Mabey its overkill?

Your brother has a lot more salt to dissolve and a lot more sensitive fish/system so he has to take lots of precautions. My fish are always fine when I do water changes. Did you check out my pix?
