I bought I heater guard for mine after they busted it open. My Oscar also broke the glass thermometer all the little mercury or lead pellets, talk about a pain cleaning up.

They eat whatever they can& get bored

Try throwing some ping pong balls in it's tank, as long as it can't swallow them.

It may help with the boredom& take attention away from the barbs

I've actually tried the ping pong ball, but it was when he was a little smaller... perhaps it will work now.

I actually took a LEGO guy tied to a rock with about a 6" string and threw him in the tank. It's been enjoyment for the kids and the fish! The kids were cracking up because the Oscar, Green Terror and Flowerhorn have been nonstop watching and nipping at the LEGO dude!

Oscars get bored, especially if the tank they're in is too small.

They do that no matter what. I had a 4 inch Oscar and 2 inch tinfoil barb in my 90 and he still did that
