i have a 55 gallon tank and put a baby oscar and a baby jack dempsey in there will they get along or is there no way telling?

not way of telling, but neither speices are knwon for being overally aggresive, so you'd probably be safe. i would advise to upgrade to a wider tank for the oscar though.

they do get along in occasion, but don't be surprised if the Dempsey at some point is too aggressive.

thanks i also was wondering about the food i bought that hakari pellets and was going to get the bloodworms is that a god fod for them?

that is fine, hikari pellets are very well knwon and trusted by aquarists, good choice, blood worms are alright while there small, but shouldn't be used like a staple diet, like hikari pellets will.

ime dempseys are overally passive cichlids, not aggresive at all. but all fish are different with different aggresion tendencies, so you never know. i'd be more worried with the oscar if anything though.

what kind of filtration are you running on your 55 btw? oscars are knwon to be very messy, and create alot of waste, which could spike ammonia problems if not properly filtrated.

im not sure to tell you the truth im just getting into this it came with the tank so no clue

you probably have or should have a HOB (hang on back) powerfilter or something of that sort.

do you have anything that looks like this?
