I have what may seem a dumb question but I just know know. I have a large Oscar and a large Jaguar cichlid that seem to go through some kind of mating dance so to speak. They stick to each others side almost 24/7. Is this possible they could breed with each other since they are both south american cichlids?

They're different genus so it seems highly unlikely, however I've seen a jag x Dempsey cross and those too are different genus, so who knows. But I've always heard Jags can breed with Parachromis, but nothing else.
I dont kno about jags but the oscar once its sexually mature it will have a tube by its anal fin if its thick and points straight down its a girl if it small and points toward the tail its a male . I guess it will the same for the jag to bein most american cichlids are the same way

That is wrong.
Pretty much every Central American cichlid can be hybridized together.
Oscar x jaguar is impossible. Very distantly related.

I don't believe it's possible. I've seen Jags mix with Texas and Flowerhorns so they don't have to breed with Parachromis but never heard of Oscars hybridizing. On a sidenote, they COULD be male and female and just pairing up without making baby's. I have a 7" Green Terror male and 5" Flowerhorn female that went through that faze. They even went as far as making a nest and attacking other fish in the tank but breeding was impossible for them.
