Everyone has an opinion. As I stated mine comes from personal experience, 8 years of owning and caring for these fish. Bad advice, your opinion. Of course you must be an expert. My personal experience has nothing to do with bad or good advice, it has to do with what has worked for me and to pass that information on to let others know it is safe to try somethings and not be scared because somebody states it will never work like you have done. Thank you for welcoming here and I will be glad to dull and bore your read. As far as credibility goes your insulting me destroys it.

I didnt insult you. Maybe you didnt understand what I was saying because I didnt cram 9,465 words into a 6 inch space with incorrect punctuation.

I read of people all the time that smoked crack or meth and did great at their jobs for years before getting caught or dying...worked for them right? I know of people driving drunk for years and never getting caught...worked for them right? Just because you can do it doesnt mean you should.

A 55 gallon is 12 inches deep and Oscars can grow longer than that, therefore, not having adequate space to turn around comfortably...not to mention that you have 2 and other fish in there. Its way too small, if you care about them, for them to reside in. WAY too small.

As far as my credibility being destroyed, if you honestly believe its ok to keep 2 oscars and others in a 55 for life, my credibility in your eyes is the least of my concerns.

Exactly. And oscars at 8 years old should be much larger than 13" if cared for like they should be.

No offense, but I skimmed through the read because it was boring and full of random, off topic rambling. Organize your ideas and add spaces between them as to entertain the reader and keep them interested.

The 2 oscars are in the tank with no other fish. You seem to be having a strong emotional reaction to what he said, but you get a basic fact like the number of fish wrong. He didn't say he was giving advice on how everyone should keep fish, he said he was relaying his personal experiences. Personally, I would want a bigger tank for 2 oscars, but comparing it to smoking crack or meth is ludicrous.

Thanks for your concern Bob, but Im not having any emotional reaction at all. Its just common sense and bad knowledge to put out there, as this place seems to be inundated with a large amount of newbies that would more than likely read that and think they could do it.

All of us could say all the things weve done that worked for us (no matter how wrong or stupid they were) and it would sound like its good practice, but we dont because the last thing we need to do is make it look like the norm.

And yes, in the jumbled box of words, I was mistaken in the first run on paragraph that he had tank mates with his 2 oscars. Irregardless, the point still stands.

Also,my analogies referencing meth etc were to simply state that, like the picture says, just because you can doesnt mean you should. Sorry that went above your head counselor...you are his attorney and speaking for him, right? Or are you just playing one on MFK?

Bottom line, again is, 2 oscars in a 55 is not adequate, no matter how many water changes you do. Accept it and move on to your next case playing public defender.

I think that bottom line you gave was all that needed to be said as a response and kept the drunk driving and crack use analogies to yourself, though your bottom line is completely correct IMO. I think the op did not contribute anything exceptionally helpful nor harmful to the forum. Keeping two oscars in a 55 at 13" a piece alive and well for eight years is not the most ridiculous thing to come up on this forum. I think those who would have had the idea to attempt this sort of set up did not need this post as validation to attempt it on their own.

I like how you insult him just after claiming you didn't insult him.

Yes I did get a little long winded, thanks for the laugh, but I see people asking questions and sharing ideas and then others just rip them apart and some really want to learn and who do you trust, definitely do not rust somebody that is handing out insults. I find it even more fascinating that so many know exactly what is going on with everyone elses fish. This is all about sharing experiences and I thought sharing my overall experience could help and not make people feel bad. I have had great experiences but just because it works great for me does not mean it will do the same for others. I advise everyone to try things and use any advice as a guide but not an absolute.

As far as my novel long winded boring statement. That is your opinion. As for my Oscar's in the 55. I have put them in much larger tanks I have done different things and the affect on them was not good. The 55 tank is theirs and that is what has worked best for them. I did not tell anyone to do this, I just shared my experience. I know my fish, you do not. As fars as my typing yes it is bad, as far as the length yeah it is long. But your insults WOW! You have a lot of anger pent up apparently. You have been entertaining. Thanks LOL!

Well of course the turn out was not good. They need to get used to their new surroundings. It would probably take 2 weeks to 1 month for them to appear happier. It just wouldn't happen overnight. Try it again and tell me what happens in one month.
